St. Sofia Cathedral is enlisted in the World Heritage List of UNESCO. It is one of the best examples of the Old Rus architecture. There is the biggest in the world collection of the original 11th century mosaics and frescoes in the cathedral. The area of 260 sq. meters is covered with the original mosaics. 3 000 sq. meters of original frescoes were restored by Soviet renovators.
