Xmas in Kiev
Christmas holidays in the capital of Ukraine will be started  December, 12th, 2008. The parade of Grandfathers Frosts (Santa Clauses)  will take place on Independence Square, Kiev at 4 pm December, 20, 2008. Same day the main New Year Tree will be shown to wide public there. This year the organizers of holiday promise to set the best 35 meter high fir-tree on Independence Square, Kiev. City authorities promise to surprise Kievites and guests of city. New special computer program  will provide dynamic illumination of the main New Year Tree of Ukraine. The show will be started at 04:30 pm. Celebration will be completed with a grandiose concert and fireworks.

«Beatlemania» exhibition
«Beatlemania» exhibition dedicated to arrival of sir Paul McCartney to Kiev,  will be opened for the visitors of "Da Vinchi"of gallery   from 12.06.2008 to 10.07.2008.
 The artists -  Vadik Bondarenko  from Amsterdam, Alexander Alekseev from Vienna , Rasim Seydimov from  Baku, Kiev artists: Alexander Alekseev, Leonid Bernat, Vadim Bondarenko, Max Vityk, Alexander Druganov, Pear, Dmitry Kavsan, Sergey Kuznetsov, Ruslan Kutnyak, Victor Pokidanets, Cyril Protsenko, Rasim Seydimov – presented their masterpieces inspired by the Beatles and Paul McCartney.
«Beatlemania» museum»
The first in Ukraine and on the territory of the former USSR «Beatlemania» museum
  was opened  in the 3rd line of Kiev Shopping Mall «Globus».  The collections of Ukrainian fans of the Beatles are on display. The project is supported by magazine «Afisha», a fund of Victor Pinchuk and Kiev Shopping Mall «Globus».  There are posters of «The Beatles», hand-made LP covers, pictures cut out from magazines and tape recorders with tapes.

Paul McCartney will give free concert in Kiev on June 14 2008
Sir Paul McCartney is to perform to hundreds of thousands of fans at a free concert in the Ukrainian capital Kiev in June. The Beatles legend will play in the city's main Independence Square at a show dubbed the Independence Concert. He was invited by Ukrainian tycoon Viktor Pinchuk, the son-in-law of the former president Leonid Kuchma. Paul's special show will be free to attend and will be broadcasted live on Novy TV. It is planned that this historic concert will be broadcast live on screens in cities across the Ukraine for those who can't make it to Kiev.

‘I'm very excited because on the 14th of June I've been invited to play a concert in Independence Square, Kiev. Me and the band are going to be there and we're going to have to a great evening and we hope to see you there. So come along, it's going to be great evening hopefully for the Ukraine. Pull together, groove, rock and roll - all together"

Scorpions will give a free concert in Kiev
Next Friday, on Mays 23th  2008 Scorpions will give a free concert in Kiev.
The concert of "Scorpions" will begin at 19:00 on the European area. It will last two hours. Organizers expect 100 thousand persons to come to concert. The previous day "Skorpions" will perform in Dubae. Therefore Klaus Mayne asked  to provide a group with an airplane. In fact they need to transport 5,5 tons of equipment. So the musicians will fly on the large "Boeing" to Kiev. Scorpions will stop in the "Hyatt" hotel   on the Sofia square, and they
will fly away the next day to Germany in order to celebrate the vocalist Klaus Mayne's birthday.

«Sappho» movie paintings

You can visit «Millennial languor. Olga Solovyova. Painting» exhibition in the Da Vinci gallery  from 31.03.2008 till 11.04.2008.  The English producer Robert Krombi shot the movie  about lesbian love - «Sappho» movie. Sappho is the ancient Greek poetess, writing poems about love of a woman to a woman, and the events took place on the island of Lesbos, where she dwelt. In general, a film tells about love of two young girls to each other. It was shot in Crimea. It is impossible to say that it is a film about lesbians, - Robert Crombie warns, -  It is more like a psychological tragedy. It is about sex appeal influencing on a human being. Safo fell  in love with Helen. The fate of the first lesbian in history of humanity is repeated. There are erotic scenes in a film.  As one of the characters is an artist, «Yalta-film» producer had to find a local artist. Olga Solovyova consented and left  for Crimea to draw for Phil-artist.  The staff of Da Vinci gallery, positive to lesbian, organized the exhibition of the same Solovyova’s pictures imbued millennial languor.

There are popular tours to Egypt among Ukrainian tourists
The most Ukrainian beach goers  (1,1 mln tourists from Ukraine) visit Egypt's mainland coast of the  Red Sea. The Hurghada region is one of the most popular beach areas in Egypt among foreign tourists. Hurghada has traditionally been known as one of the most affordable beach resort communities, though there are certainly more luxurious facilities available in the city proper, while  El Gouna, just to the north, has strictly an upper class reputation. Just to the south of Hurghada is also the exclusive compound of Soma Bay, with several hotels and a fine golf course. On the east, Aqaba side of the Sinai, while  Taba  and especially  Sharm el-Sheikh are built up areas with fine facilities to choose from, the areas in between these two the Resort Area at Marsa Alam on the Southern Mainland Red Sea Coast of Egypt destinations tend to be more camp-like, though there are certainly a few fine hotels here and there. These areas, south of Hurghada (and south of Soma Bay, and not including Marsa Alam), tend to be very laid back areas of beach with less formal entertainment facilities than the main tourist areas of  El Gouna, Hurghada, Sharm el-Sheikh, Taba and more and more, Marsa Alam. All major hotel networks such as Intercontinental, Marriott, Sheraton, Hilton, Concorde, Hyatt can be found in Egypt..

Seven wonders of Ukraine: Kamyanetsk-Podilsky fortress, island Khortytsya, park "Sofievka”, Kiev-Pechersk Lavra monastery, St. Sofia’s Cathedral, Khotyn fortress, Khersones

The following places of interest: “Kamyanets” (Kamyanetsk-Podilsky fortress), Cossack’s island Khortytsya near Zaporizhzhya, Umansky state dendrology park "Sofievka", Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, Sofia Kyivska, Khotyn fortress, Khersones (Sevastopil) were included in the list of seven wonders of Ukraine. Besides of Ukrainian wonders, three “outstanding monuments” were chosen. The status of “outstanding monument of Ukraine” was obtained by the museum of Pysanka in Ivano-Frankivsk region. Ostrog academy was named as “Outstanding monument of ecclesiastical Ukraine”, and Livadiysky palace in Yalta – as “Outstanding monument of modern history”. 77 thousand of Ukrainian people took part in the virtual voting. 

Crimea – sea, sand, sun and historical sites
German, English and Polish tourists like to visit Crimea. Every year 3-5% growth of European tourists visiting Crimea is observed. Yalta, Simferopol and Bahchisaray are the most popular sites in Crimea. This year tourists from 24 countries have visited Crimea. Some of them visit Crimea on the cruising boats. They can stay there without any visa for 48 hours. English tourists always visit Balaklava. Still 40% of tourists prefer to visit Kiev.

Independence Day
President of Ukraine Yuschenko and Prime Minister Yanukovich will pray in St. Sophia Cathedral in the morning on the 24 of August 2007. At 10 a.m. military orchestras’ parade will start. 1227 Ukrainian soldiers will take part in the orchestras’ parade. In the evening the concert for teenagers will be held on the Independence Square. “Vopli Vidoplyasova” and “Tantsi Na Maydani Kongo” will take part in the concert. At 9 p.m. fireworks will be enjoyed.

Night Kiev
Romantic hearts can enjoy the cool air as well as the view of the hilly banks of the Dnieper river under the Kievan sky. Night Kiev boat trip is organized every day. The trip begins at 19.00. The starting point is at the “Hydropark” metro station, not far from bungee jumping site. The route goes: Venetian bridge, Rusanovka bay, Metro bridge and Paton bridge. There is a little island there. A kind of tea party is provided at the bonfire on the island. You can stay overnight there in the tent. The trip costs from 99 to 130 UAH.

Festival of Sand Sculpture
The 5th International Festival of Sand Sculpture supported by “Longer” started on the 2nd of June. It was staged on the very sandy Trukhanov island. Competitors gathered from all over the world to create amazing magical shaped from nothing but sand, wowing spectators with their skill in this temporary art form. Such event is popular in Ukraine, and such festivals are held regularly in Germany, USA, Canada, Russia and Japan.

Europe Day in Kiev
27 countries will be represented in the European Village in Kyiv this year: 24 EU member states (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Finland & Sweden), the candidate states Croatia, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, and Turkey and, last but not least, Ukraine. Each embassy will invite visitors to learn more about their country’s geography, history, culture, music, people and cities, and to take part in games and quizzes. The Delegation of the European Commission in Ukraine, the European Youth Parliament and other organisations will also be represented on Khreshchatyk.

Kiev Day
Kiev Day is celebrated on 25th May 2008
Kiev Day is usually celebrated at the last weekend of May. During the celebration various performances of popular actors and musicians are held. Many people from suburbs and even other towns come to Kiev to see performances, walk along nicely decorated streets and have a great time. There will be 3 hours long pop concert at 19:00. The celebration is usually accomplished with fireworks at about 10 p.m.

22nd anniversary of Chernobyl nuclear disaster
Ukraine's President Viktor Yushchenko and dozens of mourners prayed and lit candles to mark the precise time that the Chernobyl nuclear reactor exploded 22 years ago in what became the world's worst nuclear accident. Chernobyl's Reactor No. 4 exploded at 1:23 a.m. on April 26, 1986, spewing radiation over a large chunk of the former Soviet Union and much of northern Europe. An area roughly half the size of Italy was contaminated, forcing the resettlement of hundreds of thousands of people and ruining some of Europe's most fertile farmland. Thousands have been diagnosed with thyroid cancer, and the U.N. health agency said about 9,300 people were likely to die of cancers caused by radiation. Some groups, however, including Greenpeace, have put the numbers 10 times higher.

The 2012 UEFA European Football Championship
The 2012 UEFA European Football Championship, commonly referred to as Euro 2012, will be the 14th European Championship for national football teams sanctioned by UEFA. Poland and Ukraine will be the host nations of the final tournament, scheduled for the summer of 2012, following the election of their joint-bid by UEFA's Executive Committee in Cardiff (Wales) on April 18, 2007. This bid defeated the other shortlisted bids from Italy and Croatia/Hungary, becoming the third successful joint-bid for the European Championship, after those of Belgium/Netherlands for Euro 2000 and Austria/Switzerland for Euro 2008.

Popular places are Leontovicha Street, Khmel'nitskogo Street, Sofievskaya Street, Basseynaya Street,  Institute Street.

A price  is  $1,5 thousands on a week-day for 2—3 hours. $100—300 prostitutes can be found in such establishments as "River palace" and "Patipa". What about the strip bars? You can find low price prostitutes  on Brovarsky avenue —  they stand from the metro station "Lesnaya" towards the city center, by small groups, near bus stops and gas stations. They agree to 300 UAH for a hour. Despite legends prostitutes on Kievan Okruzhnaya Road are not popular with Kievites. As a rule their clients are truck drivers and gentlemen from suburban areas. Prostitutes on Okruzhnaya are in majority quite not nice, many of them are drug addicts and have AIDS, some of them look so, that just to touch them  is too dangerous. But it is possible that they agree on sex without a contraceptive, in the forest, in a car. Their prices start from 150 UAH per hour of sex or from 40 UAH for a blowjob (early morning 25 UAH will do).
And as an epilogue: ARTICLE 303 of Criminal Code of Ukraine: "Prostitution..." is punished with a fine from 50 to 500 untaxed minimums of profits of citizens of Ukraine or by social works up to 120 hours, and on some occasions with 1000 untaxed minimums of profits of citizens of Ukraine, or by imprisonment from 1 to 5 years.
